Singell Summer Blossom is one of the best teas we have tasted this season. It comes from the farms of SINGELL TEA ESTATE which is managed and run by the TEA PROMOTERS group. This group has been among the very first to introduce PURE ORGANIC and BIO-DYNAMIC practice in their gardens. Singell Tea Estate is located in the Kurseong valley at an altitude of about 5000 Ft above sea level. The area under plantation is roughly around 525 hectares. If you are a nature lover, this garden is a must visit for you. It has the most scenic view one can get. The mighty Kanchenjunga Range towards the North-Western side and the view of River Balasun in the plains and the Kurseong town towards the Eastern side make it a Heavenly abode for nature lovers. Of recent many homestays have come-up in this area. This garden stands apart in the quality of tea being manufactured here. The plantation comprises mainly of the old chinary plantation and some sections are as old as 160 years.

This tea comes from the pioneer chinary section of plantation and has been perfectly manufactured. Everything seems to be perfect about this tea. The dry leaves are well rolled and are in the shades of coppery brownish black with plenty of tips. The aroma is enticing and rich. It has a nutty and musky aroma. It meets every parameter of being a perfect traditional second flush tea.

When brewed for 4 minutes we get a rich golden red liquor. The liquor is flavorful and complex. The flavor is in layers and a complete mouthful. It starts with a citrus musky robust taste. We can taste the citrus on the tip of the tongue the musk on the middle of the tongue and a roasted nutty flavor on the palate. There is almost no astringency and the finish is very smooth. The aftertaste is like musky with a sweet grapey taste.

The brewed leaves are bright coppery in shade and have a very fragrant cool mint like musky aroma. The tea is good for a re-steep and the taste is good for a second brew.

Overall, this tea is sure to wake you up and energize you. It’s ideal for your morning cup and also suitable during mid-day if you wish to boost up your energy levels. For all Darjeeling Muscatel Lovers, this is a must have tea.

STEEPING INSTRUCTIONS:

Fresh water brought to 1^st Boil (95C). Add 1 tea spoonful (2 grams) per cup of 150ml. Steep for 4 minutes. Strain to cup and sip as it cools. Second and third steep gives best result when steeped for full 5 minutes.
