Risheehat Tea Estate is a renowned Tea Garden in Darjeeling which is known for its beautiful topography and also for producing some of the finest teas. This garden was previously known as TSHERING BAGAN in its earliest history because of the predominance of the TSHERING TRIBE which is a Tibetan Group, in this area. It was later re-named as RISHEEHAT TEA ESTATE which means the ‘Home of the Holy Sage’. Since 1955 it has been managed by the Jayshree Tea Group. This garden is a Bio-Organic Garden having a total area of approx. 260 Hectare of which approximately 150 hectares are under plantation. This garden produces some of the finest teas from its chinary cultivar and is among the very few gardens that have achieved both quality of production and also volume using organic farming methods.
Risheehat Flowery Clonal – First Flush – 2024 is one of the best First Flush we have had from this garden. It has an appealing balance of fruit and floral notes and has a crisp clean taste. The flavour is sweet and has notes of grapes and has an umami note to it. It is clean flavour which is prominent on the palate.
As soon as we open the packet a floral sweet aroma hits our nostrils which is blissful. The dry leaves are long uncut with a brightness to it. There are plenty of visible silver tips. When brewed for 4 minutes we get a cup which is a perfect with a pale yellowish liquor with a sparkling brightness to it. The aroma is heavenly and it tempts us to sip it immediately. The liquor has a natural sweetness and is very floral. It is a perfect blend of sweet umami and floral notes. As the liquid touches our palate, it gets thicker in flavour and a citrus fruity note becomes more prominent. The liquid has a pleasant complexity in it and we get the soft hint of china as undertones. It ends well with a clean aftertaste. The infusion is bright green is shade with uncut long leaves. The aroma is very umami and has a warmth to it.

STEEPING INSTRUCTIONS:
Fresh water brought to 1st Boil (90C). Add 1 tea spoonful (2 grams) per cup of 150ml. Steep for 4 minutes to 5 minutes. Strain to cup and sip as it cools. Second steep gives best result when steeped for full 5 minutes.
