Okayti Exotica – First Flush is an ORGANIC TEA from the farms of OKAYTI TEA ESTATE. The original name of this estate was Rangdoo Tea Estate and was planted in the year 1870s by the Britishers. The tea from this estate had a distinctive taste and aroma due to the favourable climate and suitable soil. Soon back in London teas from this garden were marked as “THE ONLY OKAY TEAS” this led to the renaming of the garden from Rangdoo Tea Estate to Okayti Tea Estate. We still feel that it is not at all wrong to call this garden as OKAY-TEA. This garden was run by the KUMBHAT FAMILY for over 20 Years but the baton has been passed to a young dynamic entrepreneur Mr. Rajiv Baid who over the years has gained immense reputation in the Darjeeling Tea Industry.

This tea has been made from the early tender shoots which were delicately processed to manufacture a natural flavorful tea. The dry leaves are uncut long and twisted with plenty silver tips. The aroma is floral like jasmine with slight green undertone. When brewed for 4 minutes we get a greenish yellow liquor with aromas of white flowers. Its like walking in an orchard. The sip is a blissful experience. It starts with a citrus twang but gets floral towards the end. The infusion is a bright shade of green with floral and citrus aroma. This tea is good for 2 re-brews.

Overall we can say that this is a genuine specimen of Darjeeling First Flush and all those who want the taste of the Himalayan Champagne, this tea is for you.

  • DRY LEAVES: Darkish green long twisted leaves with visible silver needles.
  • LIQUOR: Pale yellow with sweet floral aroma.
  • INFUSION: Bright green with whole leaves with floral citrus aroma.

STEEPING INSTRUCTIONS:

Fresh water brought to 1st Boil (90C). Add 1 tea spoonful (2 grams) per cup of 150ml. Steep for 3.5 minutes to 4 minutes. Strain to cup and sip as it cools. Second and third steep gives best result when steeped for full 5 minutes.
