Castleton Muscatel comes from the prestigious CASTLETON TEA ESTATE which is a Goodricke Group Garden. This tea is a very special batch which we feel was the best muscatel produced this year by this garden. The dry leaves are in bright shades of brownish coppery with plenty of golden tips. The aroma strikes your nostrils as soon as we open the packet. We get a roasted nutty and freshly baked cookies aroma with that special musky note. The first sip is as pleasant as it can get. The flavour is very balanced. We get a strong fermented grape flavour with notes of peach and a hint of citrus mint. The flavour gets more prominent as it hits the palate.

Description

Castleton Muscatel comes from the prestigious CASTLETON TEA ESTATE which is a Goodricke Group Garden, nestled in Kurseong which is also known as ‘The Valley of White Orchids.’ This garden was planted in 1885 and consists of mainly chinary bushes. The location, elevation and soil is ideal for producing some of the finest muscatel tea and over the years Castleton Tea Estate has gained the reputation among tea connoisseurs of producing the REAL MUSCATEL.

The duration of brewing keeps you craving for the brew to be ready fast and have a sip. When brewed for 4 minutes we get a perfect golden yellow liquor which again is the perfect colour for the real muscatel with a very strong sweet aroma.

The first sip is as pleasant as it can get. The flavour is very balanced. We get a strong fermented grape flavour with notes of peach and a hint of citrus mint. The flavour gets more prominent as it hits the palate. The sip ends well with a musky honey like aroma. The astringency is just about perfect which keeps you craving for more. The aftertaste has a good sweet balance of flavours where the peach fruit and grapes flavour linger for a long duration. The flavour keeps getting louder as the liquor cools.

The infusion is in shades of greenish coppery with strong musky grapy aroma. This tea is suitable for 2 brews. Overall, for all tea connoisseurs who love the Darjeeling Muscatel, this is the tea for you.
